OJHS Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra

April 9, 2:00 PM.
Although it is April, this performance celebrates National Youth Music Month. Lisa Revier is the conductor of the Owatonna Junior High Orchestra. Under her direction the eighth grade orchestra had the opportunity to perform at Orchestra Hall, which included many of the chamber orchestra members. Joe Zastrow is the Director of the Jazz Band. This high-energy group’s sound rivals even the more seasoned musicians. Come early to get a seat.

The Thursday Musical Group

April 23, 2:00 PM.
The Arts Center is honored to host The Thursday Musical Group. They are sharing with us two of their very accomplished musicians, Ilah Raleigh, soprano, and Gabriel Quenneville-Belair, pianist.
Ilah Raleigh will be accompanied by pianist Mike Vasich. She put together a program entitled “Celebrating African American Voices” with songs by Leslie Adams and poetry from Harlem Renaissance and beyond. She has a masters of Music of Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute of Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in Italian Studies (BA) from the University of Minnesota. She currently serves as the Vocal Arts Department Chair and lead vocal arts teacher at St. Paul Conservatory of Performing Arts High School in St. Paul.
Gabriel Quenneville-Belair has been the recipient of many competition and scholarship awards, including first prizes at the University of Minnesota Concerto Competition. Gabriel earned his doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota in 2016 and his master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Conservatoire de Musique Montreal in 2013.

These programs are open to the public.
