March is National Youth Art Month. Founded in 1961, the goal is to emphasize the importance that every child has the opportunity to participate in art. The visual arts are important as they help develop general problem solving skills. The Owatonna Public School Student Exhibition shows the growth and development of our students in the visual arts and showcases the art curriculum. The quality and imagination of the young artists is amazing. The exhibition opens on Sunday, March 3, 2013 and runs through the 30th.

Tom Willis will be showing a new body of work using glazes that he has developed. The exhibition will open on Sunday, April 7, 2013 with a reception in honor of the artist. The exhibition will run through Sunday, April 28, 2013. Tom recently was awarded an Established Artist Grant through the Southern Minnesota Arts Council to develop glazes that would personalize his ceramic art. Willis has worked in pottery for over a decade and continues to study with well know potters in the US. |
